Counselling or therapy is something that most of us could benefit from at certain stages in our complicated lives, or because of particular events. It could be to work out why relationships feel difficult or elusive, why life feels empty or lonely or why you can feel quite so depressed when seemingly you have everything you ever wanted.
The first step towards finding a therapist can feel daunting, especially in somewhere like London, where there are many counsellors and therapists of all kinds - often offering different types of therapy, or with a bewildering array of letters after their names!
Working with a properly qualified counsellor is essential (BACP membership is generally recognised as a good yardstick) but a comfortable relationship between counsellor and client is the most important factor in successful counselling. To really explore issues and relationships you must feel safe and comfortable.
